In the jungle, Boo is the jungle name for elephant. Tooma is the smallest elephant ever born in the jungle. At first, he didn’t like being so small because he couldn’t do what all the other elephants could. Eventually, Tooma discovers there are wonderful advantages to being so small, and that he can do many things that big elephants can’t! Tooma has turned something that makes him different into something that makes him able to accomplish great things! Tooma is even able to use his small size to help save the entire elephant herd!
KoSari is the jungle word for an emperor moth. Emperor moths are the largest moths in the jungle. KelBella KoSari was once a tiny caterpillar that made a cocoon. While inside the cocoon, she transformed into a huge, beautiful, amazing emperor moth! Tooma was so impressed with her transformation he decided to make his own cocoon so that he could change into something wonderful and very big!
Mar Bair is a BooSha. BooSha is the jungle word for Elephant Shrew. These are small, jumpy, interesting animals that are as small as a mouse, are covered with fur, and have a wonderful tail and a long nose, just like elephants. Mair Bar and Tooma become friends and even have a contest over which one can smell things better because of their amazing long noses! When Mair Bar tells Tooma of a nearby jungle fire that puts the herd in danger, Tooma comes up with a plan to save the herd with the help of Mar Bair and all the BooSha.
TinkaLar is Tooma’s mother. She loves and protects Tooma whenever she can. Most of the time she looks at Tooma, she doesn’t notice his size. She only sees her wonderful son, although, sometimes, she doubts him because he is so much smaller than the other Boo.
DarGo is the jungle word for Beetle. Beetles are bugs that live on the jungle floor and scurry beneath fallen leaves, grasses, and sticks. Beetles can hide very well, and some can even fly! Tar is one of Tooma’s best friends. Tar has never seen an elephant this small, and no elephant has ever had such an up-close look at a beetle! Because Tar and Tooma are very close to the same size, they have a lot of jungle fun!
Bango and Lanni are Tooma’s best friends. They are all the same age, but Bango and Lanni are big elephants.

Urloo Boo is the oldest and wisest elephant in the jungle. She is the leader of the herd, and everyone respects her. Because she is the leader, the herd is called the herd of Urloo Boo. Urloo Boo is also the largest and strongest elephant in the jungle, and all the animals in the jungle respect and admire her. Urloo Boo was worried when Tooma was born because he was so small, but she has grown to realize that Tooma is a wise elephant and can do great things even though he is small.
